The slope over which light house was built is prone to instability because of river flow scouring of toe is taking place as well as the zone comes under high seismic and heavy rainfall zone. The toe of the slope need to be protected because this instability can cause failure of slope which can lead damaging power house. Therefore, task of protecting slope toe is entrusted to Spar Geo Infra Pvt Ltd.
Drilling of 200mm Dia and Installation of Micropile with Casing. Geo Spar conducted the reconnaissance of the site to observe the site constraints and feasibility of various slope protection methods. Geo Spar engineers decided to go for slope protection via mircopile with casing. Design Engineers of Geo Spar designed the micropiles of diameter 200 mm for stability of ground to counter scouring action of river. Casing is driven to give extra strength and corrosion protection to micropiles so that system can perform efficiently in countering scouring action of river.
Difficulties faced while execution:
While grouting the micropile the grout comes in contact with water and water-cement ratio gets change. The maintenance of water-cement ratio of grout is task in itself. Secondly grout get washed away due to the river flow before achieving its desired strength.
Extra Technology used for execution:
Special admixtures are mixed into the grout used for grouting micropile so that grout can achieve its desired strength before getting washed away.
The toe scouring is completely stopped after installation of micropiles and the light houses gets protected without disturbing the flow of river even after regular rainfall occurence.
